White Friday is the Gulf's name for Black Friday. In 2026 the main day is Friday 27 November, with Cyber Monday on 30 November, and big marketplaces usually run offers for about a week around it. For a small UAE online shop, the work starts now: pick your offers, check your pricing rules, stock up, and plan how you'll answer and deliver the extra orders.
This playbook gives you a week-by-week plan, the pricing rules to follow, and the mistakes that cost small sellers the most in the busiest week of the year.
Checked on 30 October 2026 against a 2026 calendar, Dubai consumer-protection guidance reported in August 2026, the Federal Tax Authority's guidance on VAT-inclusive prices, and Meta's WhatsApp pricing. Amazon.ae and noon had not announced their 2026 sale dates when we checked.
When is White Friday 2026 in the UAE?
The main day is Friday 27 November 2026, the day after US Thanksgiving (Thursday 26 November). Cyber Monday falls on Monday 30 November. UAE National Day (Eid Al Etihad) follows on 2 December, with the public holiday expected on 2 and 3 December, so many shops carry offers into that week.
There is no single official start date. Each retailer picks its own window. In 2025, news and deal sites reported Amazon.ae and other big retailers running White Friday offers from roughly 20 to 30 November, although the reported dates differ by a few days. Expect something similar in 2026 and check each marketplace's own announcement in November.
Date (2026) | What happens |
|---|---|
Now to 13 November | Plan offers, check rules, order stock, prepare content |
About 16–19 November | Early access and teasers to your customer list |
About 20–26 November | Marketplace sales usually start; competition for attention peaks |
Friday 27 November | White Friday: your highest-traffic day |
Monday 30 November | Cyber Monday: last push for online offers |
2–3 December | National Day holiday (expected); a natural follow-on offer |
Should a small shop take part in White Friday?
Yes, if your margins can carry a real discount and you can deliver on time. Shoppers in the UAE expect offers in late November, and many wait for them. But you're competing with Amazon.ae, noon and big brands that can cut prices further than you can.
Small shops usually win on something other than the deepest discount:
Speed and service. Fast answers on WhatsApp and Instagram, same-day or next-day delivery inside your emirate.
Bundles and gifts. "Buy the set, get the travel size free" protects your price better than 40% off.
Your own customers. People who already bought from you open your messages; a stranger scrolling noon doesn't know you exist.
If a discount would mean selling at a loss after delivery, payment fees and returns, skip it or run a smaller offer on a few products.
What offers work best for UAE online shops?
The best offer is one your customers understand at a glance and you can afford. Common types:
Offer | Good for | Watch out for |
|---|---|---|
Percentage off (e.g. 20% off) | Clear, easy to advertise | Eats margin on low-priced items |
Bundle price | Raising order value, clearing slow stock | Bundle must be priced below the items separately |
Free gift over a spend (e.g. over AED 300) | Protecting your headline price | Gift stock runs out first |
Free delivery over a spend | Raising order value | Check what delivery actually costs you per emirate |
Early access for past customers | Rewarding loyal buyers, spreading orders over more days | Needs a customer list you're allowed to message |
Pay-online bonus (small extra discount for card or Apple Pay) | Cutting cash-on-delivery refusals | Keep it small; card fees still apply |
Work out the numbers for each product before you announce anything: selling price after discount, minus product cost, delivery, payment fees and a realistic share of returns. If the answer is close to zero, change the offer. The free order profit calculator does this sum for one order, including VAT and refused COD parcels.
What are the rules for discounts and sale prices in the UAE?
The basic rule is honesty: the discount must be real, and the customer must see what they pay. Four points matter most for online sellers:
Show the price before and after the discount. Dubai's consumer-protection officials said in August 2026 that shops must clearly display both prices on discount offers, and inspectors check this. Do the same on your product pages and in your posts.
Don't inflate the "before" price. Raising a price just before the sale so the discount looks bigger misleads customers. Use the price you actually sold at.
Show prices including VAT. If you're VAT-registered, the Federal Tax Authority requires prices shown to consumers to include the 5% VAT. "AED 199" must be what the customer pays (plus any delivery charge you show separately).
Check whether you need a permit. In Dubai, sales and discount campaigns are regulated by the Department of Economy and Tourism (DET), which issues promotion permits and certificates. Guides disagree on when an online-only offer needs one, so check with DET (or your licence authority in another emirate) before you advertise a sale. Raffles and prize draws always need approval.
Also write down your terms: which products, the dates, whether returns and exchanges are allowed on sale items, and how long delivery takes. Put them on your website and send the link when customers ask.
How should I prepare stock and my store?
Order stock early. Suppliers and importers in the UAE get busy in November, and anything that sells out on 27 November is a lost sale.
Pick 10–20 hero products. Your best sellers and the items you'll advertise. Make sure you have enough of these.
Count your real stock and correct your system before the sale. Overselling an item you don't have is the fastest way to get bad reviews.
Keep one stock count across your website, Instagram, WhatsApp and any shop counter, so a sale in one place updates the others. See why you keep overselling.
Prepare pages and images in advance. Sale prices, banners and product photos ready by mid-November, with Arabic versions if you sell to Arabic-speaking customers.
Test checkout on a phone: card, Apple Pay, pay-later and cash on delivery, if you offer them.
How do I reach customers on WhatsApp and Instagram?
Message the people who already know you first; they're the cheapest sales you'll make.
WhatsApp: on the WhatsApp Business Platform (API), promotional messages are "marketing" templates that Meta must approve, and you can only send them to customers who agreed to hear from you. For UAE numbers, Meta charges about AED 0.21 per delivered marketing message, plus VAT (see WhatsApp Business API pricing). Send to past buyers, not bought lists.
Instagram: post the offer and its dates, use Stories countdowns, and pin the sale post. Expect a wave of DMs asking "price?" and "available?". Prepare saved replies (see Instagram DM templates).
Timing: tease the sale around 16–19 November, give past customers early access, and send one reminder on 27 November. More than that and people mute you.
Plan who answers messages during the sale. A customer who waits three hours for a reply on White Friday has already bought somewhere else.
How do I handle payments, COD and delivery in sale week?
Plan for more orders, more refusals and slower couriers.
Payments: offer card and Apple Pay, and consider pay-later (Tabby, Tamara) for higher-priced items; only a third of the stores in our study of 104 UAE online stores show it on their pages. Send payment links to customers who order in chat.
Cash on delivery: COD refusals rise with impulse buying. Confirm every COD order on WhatsApp before you ship (see how to confirm COD orders), and watch for fake orders.
Delivery: ask your courier now about pickup times and delays in the last week of November, and tell customers realistic delivery dates. Compare options in our courier guide.
Order updates: send a shipping update with the tracking link. It cuts "where is my order?" messages, which pile up after a sale.
What should I do after White Friday?
Treat the week after as part of the sale:
Answer every message and fix problems fast: late deliveries, wrong sizes, returns.
Thank first-time buyers and ask for a review a few days after delivery.
Run a National Day offer (2–3 December) for people who missed White Friday, if your margins allow it.
Note what sold, what didn't and where orders came from. That's your plan for the Dubai Shopping Festival and Ramadan.

Frequently asked questions
When is White Friday 2026 in the UAE?
The main day is Friday 27 November 2026, and Cyber Monday is 30 November. Retailers set their own sale windows; in 2025 most big UAE retailers ran offers for about a week around the main day.
What is the difference between White Friday and Black Friday?
They're the same shopping event. "White Friday" is the name used in the Gulf, where Friday is a special day of the week and "black" doesn't suit it; "Black Friday" is the US name.
When will Amazon.ae and noon announce their White Friday sales?
They usually announce in November. When we checked on 30 October 2026, neither had published its 2026 dates.
Do I need a permit to run a discount in Dubai?
Sales and discount campaigns in Dubai are regulated by the Department of Economy and Tourism (DET). Check with DET before advertising a sale, especially for in-store offers, raffles and prize draws. Other emirates have their own rules.
Do sale prices have to include VAT?
Yes, if you're VAT-registered. The Federal Tax Authority requires prices shown to consumers to include 5% VAT.
How much discount should a small shop offer?
Only what your margins allow after product cost, delivery, payment fees and returns. Bundles, free gifts and free delivery over a set spend often work better for small shops than a deep percentage cut.
Can I send White Friday offers to customers on WhatsApp?
Yes, to customers who agreed to receive messages from you. On the WhatsApp Business API, offers go out as approved marketing templates, charged by Meta per delivered message.
