Most UAE online sellers deliver with a courier such as Aramex, Emirates Post, or a local same-day service like Jeebly or Quiqup. Typical small-business rates are about AED 15 to 30 for delivery within Dubai and AED 25 to 50 between emirates, with cash on delivery usually adding about AED 5 to 10. Rates fall with volume, so ask for a business rate card.

This guide compares the main options, explains how pricing works (including volumetric weight), covers COD collection and payouts, and shows how to choose.

Rate ranges are benchmarks from a 2026 UAE logistics guide, not quotes from any one courier. Couriers set business rates by volume, weight, zone and service; always get a written rate card. Checked 29 October 2026.

How much does delivery cost in the UAE?

Typical ranges for small businesses, from a 2026 UAE logistics guide:

Service

Typical price per parcel

Same-day within Dubai

About AED 15 to 30

Between emirates (for example Dubai to Abu Dhabi or Ras Al Khaimah)

About AED 25 to 50

Cash on delivery add-on

About AED 5 to 10 per shipment

The same guide cites domestic benchmarks of about AED 17 for next-day and AED 29 for same-day delivery. With steady volume, many sellers negotiate lower rates.

What changes the price:

  • Weight, actual or volumetric (see below)

  • Speed: 4-hour, same-day, next-day or standard

  • Zone: Dubai, Sharjah and Ajman are usually cheapest; remote areas and some free zones cost more or have limits

  • COD: an extra fee, sometimes a percentage of the amount collected

  • Returns: many couriers charge for returning refused parcels

  • Volume: monthly shipment numbers drive your rate card

What is volumetric weight?

Couriers charge for the higher of a parcel's actual weight and its volumetric (dimensional) weight, which reflects how much space it takes up:

Volumetric weight (kg) = length × width × height (cm) ÷ 5,000

Example: a box of 30 × 25 × 10 cm has a volumetric weight of 7,500 ÷ 5,000 = 1.5 kg. If the product inside weighs only 0.6 kg, you're charged for 1.5 kg.

Tip: use the smallest box or a poly mailer that protects the product. Light, bulky packaging (for example big boxes for scarves or cosmetics) can double your delivery cost. Check each courier's divisor; some use different numbers.

How does cash on delivery work with UAE couriers?

  1. You mark the order as COD with the amount to collect.

  2. The courier delivers and collects cash or card at the door (many riders carry card machines).

  3. The courier remits the collected money to you, minus fees, on a schedule (often weekly).

  4. Refused or failed deliveries are returned to you, often with a return fee.

Ask every courier:

  • What's the COD fee (flat or percentage)?

  • How often do they remit COD money, and to which account?

  • Can riders take card payments at the door?

  • How many delivery attempts before return?

  • What's the return fee for refused orders?

  • How do they handle damaged or lost COD parcels?

To cut refusals, confirm every COD order before shipping. See cash on delivery for social sellers.

How to choose a courier in the UAE

  1. Match speed to your customers. Fashion and gifts often need same-day or next-day; furniture can wait.

  2. Check coverage for every emirate you sell to, including remote areas and free zones.

  3. Compare total cost, including COD fees, return fees and fuel or remote-area surcharges, not just the base price.

  4. Check COD remittance speed. Weekly vs monthly makes a big difference to cash flow.

  5. Check integration with your online store, so labels and tracking are created automatically.

  6. Ask for tracking your customers can follow, ideally with WhatsApp or SMS updates.

  7. Start with two couriers: one main, one backup for peak periods like Ramadan, Eid and White Friday.

How should I set delivery fees for customers?

  • Show fees before checkout by emirate, for example "Dubai, Sharjah and Ajman: AED 15; other emirates: AED 25".

  • Offer free delivery above a basket value set so your margin covers it; this often increases order size. In our study of 104 UAE online stores, the typical minimum was AED 200.

  • Charge more for same-day if customers want it.

  • Include VAT in the delivery fee shown to customers if you're VAT-registered; delivery you charge for is part of the sale.

How to reduce delivery problems

  • Collect full addresses: emirate, area, building or villa number, and a landmark. UAE addresses can be hard to find without one.

  • Ask for a location pin on WhatsApp for villas and new areas.

  • Send updates the day before and on the day of delivery. Fewer "where is my order?" messages, fewer failed attempts. See WhatsApp order management.

  • Confirm COD orders before booking the courier.

  • Pack to protect and to size to avoid damage and volumetric charges.

  • Track delivery rate by courier and area, and move volume to whoever performs best.

Delivery with Nodi

Nodi's online store for UAE sellers works with Aramex, with delivery fees you can set by emirate and cash on delivery alongside card payments. Orders from your store, WhatsApp and Instagram land in one system; on Growth and Scale, Nodi confirms COD orders on WhatsApp and flags fake orders before you ship, and its AI answers "where is my order?" for you. Plans start from AED 59 a month, and you can try the full Scale plan for 30 days for AED 3.

Frequently asked questions

Which courier is best for online sellers in the UAE?

It depends on speed, coverage and volume. Aramex and Emirates Post cover all emirates and international shipping; Jeebly and Quiqup specialise in same-day delivery in major cities. Many sellers use one main courier and a backup.

How much does Aramex charge for delivery in the UAE?

Aramex sets business rates by volume, weight, zone and service, so ask for a rate card. As a benchmark, small-business UAE deliveries typically cost about AED 15 to 30 within Dubai and AED 25 to 50 between emirates, plus about AED 5 to 10 for COD.

How much is the COD fee in the UAE?

Usually about AED 5 to 10 per shipment, or a percentage of the amount collected, depending on the courier and your volume.

How do couriers pay COD money to sellers?

They remit the collected cash to your business account on a schedule, often weekly, minus delivery and COD fees. Ask each courier about their remittance cycle.

What is volumetric weight?

A parcel's size converted to weight: length × width × height in cm ÷ 5,000. Couriers charge for whichever is higher, actual or volumetric weight.

Can I offer same-day delivery in Dubai?

Yes. Several couriers offer same-day and even 4-hour delivery within Dubai, usually at a higher price than next-day.
