The Dubai Shopping Festival (DSF) 2026–27 runs for 45 days, from Friday 4 December 2026 to Sunday 17 January 2027. It's the 32nd edition. For a small online shop, DSF is a long season, not one sale day: plan a few offers spread across six weeks, check the promotion rules, keep stock and delivery steady, and answer customers fast.

This guide covers the dates, whether an online shop can take part officially, the rules for discounts, and a week-by-week plan.

Checked on 2 November 2026 against Visit Dubai's events calendar, TradeArabia and Emirates 24|7 reports of the 2026–27 dates (October 2026), Khaleej Times coverage of the 2025–26 sale season, Dubai consumer-protection guidance, and the Federal Tax Authority's rules on VAT-inclusive prices. The full DSF programme had not been published when we checked.

When is the Dubai Shopping Festival 2026–27?

DSF 2026–27 runs from 4 December 2026 to 17 January 2027, 45 days in all. It's organised by Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE), part of Dubai's Department of Economy and Tourism. DFRE said in October that the full programme of offers, raffles and events would be announced in the following weeks.

The festival sits between two other busy dates: White Friday just before it, and Ramadan, which is expected to start around 8 February 2027.

Can an online shop take part in DSF?

Yes, in two ways, and it matters which one you choose.

  1. Officially. Retailers that want to run promotions as part of the festival, including raffles and pop-up kiosks, apply to DFRE for a certificate of participation through the DET Connect portal. A trade licence copy is required, and pop-up kiosks also need a no-objection letter from the venue.

  2. Alongside the festival. Many small shops simply run their own offers during the DSF season, when shoppers are already looking for deals, without presenting them as official DSF promotions.

If you're not registered with DFRE, don't call your sale an "official DSF offer" or use the DSF logo. Say "our winter sale" or "offers this December" instead.

Whether an online-only discount needs a DFRE certificate or a separate DET permit is not clearly stated in the public guidance we could find. Before you advertise, check with DET (or your licence authority if you're licensed outside Dubai). Raffles and prize draws always need approval.

What are the rules for discounts during DSF?

The same rules apply as at any other time of the year, and inspectors are busier during festivals:

  1. Show the price before and after the discount. Dubai's consumer-protection officials said in August 2026 that shops must clearly display both prices on discount offers. Do this on product pages and in your posts.

  2. Use the real "before" price. Don't raise a price before the sale to make the discount look bigger.

  3. Show prices including VAT. If you're VAT-registered, the Federal Tax Authority requires prices shown to consumers to include the 5% VAT.

  4. Publish your sale terms. Which products, which dates, whether sale items can be returned or exchanged, and how long delivery takes.

What offers work for a 45-day festival?

Don't run one discount for six weeks. Customers stop paying attention, and you give away margin on orders you'd have got anyway. A better pattern for a small shop:

Period

Offer idea

Why it works

Opening weekend (4–6 December)

Early access for past customers, then a launch offer

Your own customers buy first and spread the load

Mid-December

Gift bundles and gift wrapping

Christmas and year-end gifting

Around the big retailers' sale (late December)

Your strongest discount, on a few hero products

Shoppers are actively hunting deals

New Year week

Free delivery over a set spend

Raises order value without a deeper cut

Final week (11–17 January)

"Last chance" on remaining stock

Clears winter stock before Ramadan planning

Work out each offer before you announce it: price after discount, minus product cost, delivery, payment fees and a realistic share of returns. If little is left, choose a gift or bundle instead of a bigger percentage.

How should I prepare stock and my store?

Plan stock for six weeks, not one day. Your White Friday sales will tell you which products move.

  1. Re-order after White Friday. Look at what sold in late November and order more of it before 4 December. Suppliers slow down around the New Year.

  2. Pick 10–20 hero products for your main offers and keep extra stock of them.

  3. Count stock regularly. Over 45 days, small errors add up. Correct your system every week, and keep one stock count across your website, Instagram, WhatsApp and any shop counter (see why you keep overselling).

  4. Prepare sale pages and banners in advance, in English and Arabic if you sell to Arabic-speaking customers.

  5. Test checkout on a phone for every payment method you offer.

How do I reach customers during DSF?

Message people who already know you first, then use the festival buzz to reach new ones.

  • WhatsApp: on the WhatsApp Business Platform (API), offers go out as marketing templates that Meta must approve, sent only to customers who agreed to hear from you. For UAE numbers, Meta charges about AED 0.21 per delivered marketing message, plus VAT (see WhatsApp Business API pricing). Two or three messages over the festival is plenty.

  • Instagram: announce each new offer, use Stories with dates, and pin the current offer post. Prepare saved replies for "price?" and "available?" (see Instagram DM templates).

  • Visitors and new customers: DSF brings tourists and visitors into the city. If you deliver to hotels, say so, and accept international cards and Apple Pay so a visitor can pay without cash.

Decide who answers messages on weekends and holidays. Christmas and New Year fall on Fridays this season, and customers still expect quick replies.

How do I handle payments, COD and delivery over the holidays?

Plan for courier delays around Christmas and New Year, and for more cash-on-delivery refusals from impulse orders.

  • Payments: offer card and Apple Pay, and pay-later (Tabby, Tamara) for higher-priced items. Send payment links to customers who order in chat.

  • Cash on delivery: confirm every COD order on WhatsApp before shipping (see how to confirm COD orders) and watch for fake orders.

  • Delivery: ask your courier about pickups on 1 January and in the last week of December, and give customers honest delivery dates. Compare options in our courier guide.

  • Gift orders: let customers add a gift note and a different delivery address.

What should I do when DSF ends?

Review the season while it's fresh:

  • Note what sold, which offers worked and where orders came from (WhatsApp, Instagram, website, walk-ins).

  • Thank first-time buyers and ask for a review a week after delivery.

  • Start Ramadan planning. Ramadan is expected to begin around 8 February 2027, only three weeks after DSF ends. Order Ramadan stock before the festival closes.

Run your DSF season with Nodi

Nodi is your AI employee for your ecommerce business: one system for your online store, shop counter, stock and customer chats. For a six-week festival, that means:

  • An online store with prices in AED, Arabic right-to-left support, and payment by card or cash on delivery

  • One stock count across your store and POS, so a sale in one place updates the others

  • AI replies on WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook in English and Arabic, from your own products, prices and policies, with handoff to your team; it answers "where is my order?" and flags spam orders, including on weekends and holidays

  • Aramex bookings from Nodi, with delivery charges by emirate, and UAE VAT tax invoices

Plans start from AED 59 a month, and you can try the full Scale plan for 30 days for AED 3.

Frequently asked questions

When is the Dubai Shopping Festival 2026–27?

From Friday 4 December 2026 to Sunday 17 January 2027, 45 days. It's the 32nd edition of the festival.

Who organises the Dubai Shopping Festival?

Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE), part of Dubai's Department of Economy and Tourism (DET).

Can a small online shop join DSF?

Retailers apply to DFRE for a certificate of participation through the DET Connect portal to run promotions as part of the festival. Many small shops instead run their own offers during the season without calling them official DSF offers. Check with DET before you advertise either way.

Do I need a permit for a discount during DSF?

Raffles and prize draws always need approval. Rules for online-only discounts aren't clearly published, so check with DET (or your emirate's licence authority) before you advertise a sale.

When is the DSF 12-hour sale?

The 2026–27 date hadn't been announced when we checked. In the 2025–26 edition, the 12-hour sale ran on 26 December across Majid Al Futtaim malls, the same day the wider DSF sale season began.

Do DSF sale prices have to include VAT?

Yes, if you're VAT-registered. Prices shown to consumers must include the 5% VAT, and you must show the price before and after any discount.

How long after DSF does Ramadan start?

Ramadan 2027 is expected to begin around 8 February 2027, about three weeks after DSF ends on 17 January. The exact date depends on the moon sighting.
