How the calculator works
It starts from the price the customer pays. If you're VAT-registered, the 5% VAT inside that price goes to the FTA, so it isn't revenue. Card and payment-link fees are charged on the full price the customer pays.
COD orders are split into delivered and refused. A delivered COD order earns your margin minus the courier's COD fee. A refused one earns nothing and still costs you delivery, packaging and the return trip; the product goes back into stock. The expected profit per order weighs card orders, delivered COD and refused COD by their share.
How to keep more of each order
Refused COD parcels are often the biggest hidden cost. Confirm every COD order on WhatsApp before you ship (see how to confirm COD orders), ask for a small advance on risky orders (advance payment on COD), and watch for fake orders.
Delivery costs vary by courier and emirate; compare them in our courier guide, and payment fees in our payment gateway comparison.
Frequently asked questions
What is a normal COD refusal rate?
It varies a lot by product, price and how orders are confirmed, so use your own numbers from your courier reports. The calculator shows the refusal rate at which COD stops paying for your order.
Does the product cost count when a COD order is refused?
No. The parcel comes back and the product returns to stock, so the loss is delivery, packaging and the return cost.
Should I include VAT in the selling price?
Enter the price the customer pays. If you're VAT-registered, tick the box and the calculator removes the 5% VAT before working out your profit.
Are the default numbers real fees?
No, they're examples to start from. Replace them with your courier's, payment provider's and supplier's actual costs.
